Procedure for Master Selection

Synchronization is essential for positioning. It is driven periodically from RTLS Manager to set of Master anchors. Therefore, Master selection is the first and key step for RTLS System configuration. Each location cell should have its own master which wirelessly synchronizes neighbor anchors.

Master Selection Procedure Steps

  1. Anchor Initialization → Provides overall score about link quality among anchors. From RTLS Studio 2.3 is possible Sectional Initialization.
  2. Manual Master Selection → Auto Anchor Deployment is available only for application with less than 6 anchors. For bigger installation manual selection must be done.
  3. RTLS System Synchronization → Set UDP-AD as recommended synchronization protocol (you can also set TCP and UDP protocols).
  4. Anchor Restrictions → Restrict anchor for given master by manual restricting line-of-sight visibility or based on environment (i.e. room or by distance to master anchor).
  5. Synchronization Stability → Check synchronization stability for anchors.
